Legendary Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry is getting back in the saddle again, so to speak, as a solo artist.
On January 19, 2018, Perry (the focus of a Rock Cellar feature interview a while back) will release a new record called Sweetzerland Manifesto, his sixth solo LP to date and the first since 2009.
As you might expect, given Perry’s pedigree, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame career and high-profile friends, the record will feature several of them in varying degrees of participation. Johnny Depp, who of course moonlights in the glam-rock cover band project The Hollywood Vampires with Perry and Alice Cooper, plays drums on a new cover of “Eve of Destruction,” while drummer Zak Starkey, The New York Dolls’ David Johansen and Cheap Trick’s Robin Zander pop up on other songs.
Terry Reid also co-wrote many of the album’s 10 songs with Perry, and provides vocal duties on “I’ll Do Happiness,” “Sick and Tired” and “Won’t Let Me Go.”
“It’s going to be interesting to see what songs people gravitate to because there’s such a wide variety of tunes,” Perry said in a statement about the record, alluding to its eclectic nature.
Here’s the track listing:
“Rumble In The Jungle” (instrumental)
“I’ll Do Happiness” (featuring Terry Reid)
“Aye, Aye, Aye” (featuring Robin Zander)
“I Wanna Roll” (featuring David Johansen)
“Sick & Tired” (featuring Terry Reid)
“Haberdasher Blues” (featuring David Johansen)
“Spanish Sushi” (instrumental)
“Eve Of Destruction” (featuring Johnny Depp)
“I’m Going Crazy” (featuring David Johansen)
“Won’t Let Me Go” (featuring Terry Reid)
