On June 10, Garbage will release a new record titled Strange Little Birds. The long-running alt/industrial band recently premiered its lead single, Empty, and on Monday they unveiled a very slick music video for the track.
A straightforward performance clip featuring the band – Shirley Manson, Butch Vig, Steve Marker and Duke Erikson – playing in a warehouse-like facility, features some impressive color and light effects. The clip is vintage Garbage, from Manson’s bright pink hair to Vig’s drums and industrial flair and a hook that wouldn’t be out of place on the band’s classic 1990s records.
If the video’s aesthetic style seems familiar, there’s a reason for that: it was directed by Samuel Bayer, noted music video mastermind behind Nirvana‘s Smells Like Teen Spirit, Smashing Pumpkins‘ Bullet with Butterfly Wings and Garbage’s Vow:
